The Mackie MTEST-1 is a device that allows you to check your cables to see if they are still working correctly. Whether you have a mountain of cables or just a few, it really helps to know which ones are good for use and which ones need to be tossed out, and the MTEST-1 has been designed for that exact purpose. This cable tester is perfect for entirely any sound engineer or musician and is an incredibly handy tool that makes an excellent addition to any stage or studio.
The MTEST-1 comes with male and female connections for all of the most common types of cables and allows you to plug into any combination of connectors, this intelligent box knows what is being plugged in and matches the pins accordingly. There are connections for XLR, Speakon, MIDI, RCA/Phono, and both ¼ and 1/8 inch Jack, however, if you don’t see the connection you desire you can just plug into the included probes to test continuity on virtually any cable or non-active circuit.
There is also an easy-to-read visual feedback indicator that makes use of a super-bright LED to signify precisely which pins are working properly if the corresponding LED isn’t alight when you have a cable connected then you know to throw that cable into the bin. The MTEST-1 is highly-portable which is perfect for musicians, and sound engineer’s on the move, if you do not have time to connect to an AC adapter you can quickly put in a 9v battery and the box is ready for action. This cable checker also features a super-robust ‘built-like-a-tank’ steel enclosure with long-wearing components that are designed for everyday stage/studio use.
