The Maschine Mikro Mk3 is the latest in the mark three range of Maschine controllers from Native Instruments. The new Mikro controller ramps up the feature list even more than the previous model and is also cheaper so this can serve as an excellent introduction to MASCHINE software and NI in general. The Mikro Mk3 can be played in four distinct ways. Using the 16RGB velocity sensitive pads, you can create exciting drum sections in pad mode, play complex melodies in keyboard mode. Or you can programme complex step-sequences in step mode, or create harmonic excitement with chord progressions thanks to the chord mode. This a truly feature-rich performance and recording tool that is small enough, and intuitive enough to integrate into virtually any studio setup.
The push encoders allows for quick and easy control of functions that are vital to enhancing your music production. You can browse samples, navigate packs, adjust volume levels and stereo spread as well as other paramete controls. All from one durable encoder, you will struggle to find a more well-refined, yet simple hardware control functionality on any other controller on the market. Especially within this price bracket.
Another critical feature of the Native Instrument’s Mikro Mk3 is the emulation of classic groovebox and sampling technology, from the likes of the MPC80 and SP1200 – vintage grooveboxes that are trusted by generations of music producers. In contrast next-gen features such as the dual-touch strips that allow for instrument attenuations and strumming effects, thanks in part to the perform FX function.
The Maschine software that is included is the same as the MK3, JAM, and Studio controllers, this includes fantastic professional quality creative and mixing effects such as; delay, EQ, filter, reverb, and compression. Use this as a VST, AAX, or audio unit in every major digital audio workstation on the marketplace.
Included with your Mk3 is a selection of NI software. Full Maschine Software is included as well as 1.6GB of Maschine factory selections. You also get a full copy of Massive, Monark, Reaktor Prism. The price of this unit and level of functionality make this a great controller as well for live performers that need a reliable unit for deep integration not just maschine but Ableton Live too.
