Novation Circuit Groove Box Synth and Drum Machine Video Introduction

Inspiration strikes, music creation in no time – no time is lost when inspiration strikes due to the layout design, 2-part synthesiser, 4-part drum machine, and the use of the 4x8 RGB velocity-sensitive grid sequencer. The circuit can be used straight from the box too minimising complicated setup or use.

Standalone unit – can be used to generate tracks entirely from the pad itself (battery-powered and in-built speakers) or run alongside your other production equipment, as you so wish. Tracks can therefore be generated, saved and played back live from the console, in addition to having line outputs, USB and MIDI ports for providing connection to laptop/PC or other synth equipment. So even if ideas strike whilst on the move you can get them down quickly and simply no matter where you are.

Fantastic sound output – Novation's Circuit is ready for whatever the sound challenge you ask it to create, whether that be bass or leads, using two synth engines able to produce monophonic and polyphonic sounds.

Split grid – this shows your steps and notes simultaneously. You are able to either capture your performance in real-time or program each stage.

Interface – The interactive velocity-sensitive RGB pads enable complete control over pitch, EQ, decay and distortion whilst the eight macro knobs allow for fine-tuning or complete modification of a patch.

Creation – allow for up to 128 steps of synth, drum patterns and built-in effects to create a track. Once completed there are 32 slots where your superb creation can be saved.

Combine Simplicity and Experimentation – Use straightforward streamlined modes to keep your melodies, rhythms and harmonies locked in time and in harmonic key while you bounce down riff, hook and chord ideas. Or start experimenting for some serious sequencing exploration.

Circuit Components

Circuit Components is a collection of tools that allow you to design, produce and modify your very own original instrument.

In more detail, this is what Circuit components entail:

Samples can be easily imported by dragging and dropping them onto Circuit and then build up your own sound pallet to sequence, shape, sculpt and perform.
WAV or MP3 files will be converted automatically when imported.
An extra 60 seconds of sample space is provided across the 64 slots allowing it to be used for chords, vocal snippets, one-shots, synth stabs etc.
All 64 single sounds within the sample collection can be saved as one individual file.

THE EDITOR

The Editor allows you to design complicated and detailed patches from your PC/Mac and then use them as a standalone workflow.

Full access is permitted to each synth parameter of Circuit’s two powerful polysynths. The detailed synth editor from the Novation team/Isotonik Studios allows you, the user, complete control.
Editing is now available for everyone through Circuit Editor’s certified public release, meaning Live Suite or a Mac is not a must, as it now runs alone on either PC or Mac.
Circuit’s eight macro control knobs can be modified, patch by patch.

Circuit Editor allows the patches you have created to be saved to your computer. As a result they can be stored away, safely, or shared amongst friends or artists (through editor, which is free!).

THE LIBRARIAN

Your production sessions can be backed-up to the cloud. This provides a safe location and also allows for them to be retrieved in a matter of seconds anywhere in the world. This results in crucial space being created allowing for even more creativity to take place.

THE FIRMWARE

The latest firmware, Circuit v1.2, will need to be obtained in order for Circuit Components to be used. Not only that bug fixes and latest features are also included in this most current version.

Circuit now works with other MIDI controllers. MIDI notes can be recorded and other data extracted either chromatically or tuned, dependent upon your preferred key and scale. Macro controls can also be modified and recorded from a MIDI controller or an iPad!
Circuit can be automatically synced with Ableton Live where MIDI can be directly recorded from the session (in key, tempo and time). The MIDI tracks can even be recorded in one key and changed later in Circuit.
Using any external source, the sound of the Circuits two synths can be remotely switched by using the MIDI program change messages and the Circuits four drums can be modified using MIDI CC messages.
Momentary Record allows you to tap in, overdub notes or macros and hold record without interfering with your workflow.

There are now numerous creative possibilities e.g. a different sound can be added on each step of every track, an FX can be inserted to a single note in a sequence and you could have a distorted pitch on your drums for each hit.
