The sE Electronics X1R is a rugged ribbon microphone that is perfect for almost any purpose. The X1R draws on some of the technologies from the sE Electronics Voodoo ribbon microphone and is a vintage-modern hybrid that gives you the inherent smoothness of a hand-crafted ribbon mic but with more durability, versatility and ease of use than earlier versions of delicate ribbon mics.
The X1R gives you the magic of traditional ribbon microphones with a modern age, robust construction that can take any SPL. Thanks to the high-performance of the X1R it is suited to a variety of recording applications such as overhead drums, guitar cabs, woodwind, brass and string instruments as well as commercial broadcasts and voice-overs.
The state of the art ribbon element is enclosed by High-grade Neodymium magnets that boast some of the latest ribbon microphone technologies. sE Electronics have combined traditional ribbon technology with the mechanical elements of the Voodoo microphone, like the high-frequency extension that gives you a classic sounding ribbon microphone with a gentle high-frequency lift.
The X1R doesn’t offer the same full-frequency response of the Voodoo VR1/VR2 or the critically-acclaimed Rupert Neve Signature Series RNR1; however, the hybrid of old and new ribbon technology gives you the pristine beauty of the ribbon sound but with more versatility and durability than the majority of ribbon microphones on today’s market. The XR1 comes with a mic clip that securely attaches to any mic stand and also fits a shock mount if required.
