The Korg Volca Sample 2 is a digital sample sequencer that allows you to record, edit, and sequence up to 200 sample sounds in real time for thrilling live performances and DJ sets. It works seamlessly with any current Volca configuration or on its own.
There is more of everything
The Korg Volca Sample 2 has grown in size and power since its debut. When you turn on the Volca 2, you'll see a 200-slot increase in RAM. This represents a twofold increase above what was originally offered. Even the basic 50 selections on the factory menu are left blank, allowing you to create and personalise your own bank. There are now 16 pattern locations instead of the old ten, designed with all producers and beat creators in mind.
This new Volca Sampler 2 recaptures the creative flair of first-generation samplers, allowing you to modify any sound to create material for your musical compositions. It's ideal for DJs, artists, and music producers that want to go highly experimental with their performances and songs.
Integrated step sequencer
The Volca Sample includes an inbuilt step sequencer designed for easy editing, allowing pieces to be added and removed on the fly using the 16 step keys, as well as a visual indicator that shows the timing of the notes in a measure. You can also record your performances in real time if necessary, and you can save up to 10 sequence patterns in internal memory to recall at any point. A motion sequencer function records your knob movements, allowing you to change the sound over time. It's an excellent technique to modulate your audio and create truly unique live performances.
The following settings can be utilised in conjunction with the motion sequencer: playback start point, sample length, high-cut cutoff frequency, playback speed, pitch EG depth, pitch EG attack, pitch EG decay, amp level, pan, amp EG attack, and amp EG decay. The ability to capture the action of the knob movements opens up complex editing possibilities that hardware samplers of this type cannot provide.
Dynamic performances
A swing feature alters the swing playback position and aids in the creation of distinct grooves for dance music styles and hip-hop, as well as the ability to change the nature of your tracks by allowing you to alternate between rushing and dragging your rhythms. An active step function allows you to skip steps while a sequence is playing, whereas a step jump function immediately plays the step you're pushing. This enables you to generate short-loop effects as well as irregular rhythms for dynamic performances, giving the impression that you're playing the sequencer as a real instrument.
Frequency EQ isolator
The Volca Sample 2 includes a frequency EQ isolator, which is a powerful, creative tool for creating various electronic dance music genres. It can be used to make powerful alterations to your sounds and samples, as well as to create developments in your tracks such as breakdowns by boosting or cutting the low and high frequency ranges. The isolator EQ uses an analogue circuit to produce a deep, luscious sound even when positioned flat. A built-in reverb effect can be turned on and off for each individual sound part, and it may be used in concert with the isolator EQ to improve live performances and produce interesting effects.
A first for the Volca range is the addition of a song mode, which allows you to save up to six sing patterns, each combining up to 16 sequences and enables highly unique performance possibilities, allowing you to play a diverse range of samples as well as perform alongside another synchronised Volca unit while dramatically changing your rhythm patterns on the Volca Sample. A sample reverse feature allows you to perform hip-hop-style sample effects and may be turned on and off separately for each sample section.
