When designing the sE5 microphone, sE Electronics took its predecessor the sE4 and redesigned it from the ground up, from the capsule right down to the XLR connector. The sE5 condenser microphone sets the new standard for small diaphragm mics and is perfect for any use, live or studio without breaking the bank. With an even better full-range frequency response and improved transient handling, it is the best choice for recording drums, pianos, percussion and any stringed acoustic instrument.

The sE5 comes with a cardioid pickup pattern that delivers a clean, smooth on-axis response with off-axis rejection that is crucial when recording an instrument among unwanted noise such as other instruments or room ambience. The sE5 also comes with a 100Hz low cut that can be applied to eliminate the proximity effect, which is typical of a cardioid microphone when placed too close to the sound source or to isolate low-frequency rumbles.
Two pad switches can be found on the side of the sE5 and should be used when recording a loud signal such as guitar cabinets and drums. The -10dB and -20dB settings shall reduce the output level from the microphone to the microphones preamp, guarantying a high-quality signal is captured.
The sE5 has a sleek matte black finish that helps minimise visual attention drawn to the microphone when used on stage or in a studio, allowing itself to blend into the background. The microphone even includes a custom-made shock mount, which is essential to use for reduced unwanted vibrations or knocks to the microphone stand. The mounting mechanism is spring loaded for quick and easy insertion and dismantling of the mic.
