Its user-friendly operation, formidable torque, and exceptional durability have solidified its status as a critical instrument in elevating DJ and electronic dance music culture. Even today, the SL-1210 series remains a top choice among DJs globally.
The SL-1210 Mk7 promises high-quality sound reproduction in line with Technics’ storied philosophy. Featuring a revolutionary coreless motor, this design eliminates the iron core to eradicate cogging—ensuring the platter spins smoothly and evenly. Optimised gaps between the coreless stator and rotor magnets deliver torque levels equivalent to the esteemed SL-1210 Mk5, making it an ideal companion for DJs.
Equipped with a highly sensitive, statically balanced S-shaped tonearm, the Mk7 reads record grooves with precision. This gimbal-suspended tonearm incorporates a machined housing and high-precision bearings for outstanding tracking performance, effectively minimizing stylus jumping—even during intense scratching sessions.
The newly designed platter consists of a two-layer construction featuring deadening rubber on the rear, which dampens unwanted vibrations in the aluminum die-cast platter. This superior vibration isolation safeguards the clarity and fidelity of your sound through every performance.
Technics has also enhanced durability and stability with an aluminum die-cast chassis integrated with special ABS glass fiber, providing a two-layer structure that resists external vibrations. The support of spring and rubber insulators ensures optimal frequency characteristics while effectively countering external disturbances caused by strong sound pressure levels.
Convenience is prioritized with detachable power and phono terminals that prevent accidental disconnections during performances, enabling effortless cable maintenance and personalization with your preferred phono cables. The gold-plated terminals further guarantee minimal sound quality degradation.
The SL-1210 Mk7 is replete with user-friendly features designed for DJs. A microcomputer works in tandem with advanced motor control technology to deliver precise responses across various DJ styles, including scratching and beatmatching. The adjustable controls allow you to customize starting torque and brake speed, ensuring an optimal experience tailored to your performance needs.
Choose from three platter speeds—33-1/3, 45, or 78 RPM—while a large pitch fader enables fine-tuning of the rotation speed at +/-8% or +/-16%. The addition of fully digital pitch control ensures consistent and stable platter rotation, delivering stellar tracking performance. With a simple simultaneous press of the start/stop button and speed selector, you can even reverse platter direction.
Another impressive feature is the newly designed stylus illuminator, equipped with a bright, long-lasting white LED. Redesigned intensity and illumination area improve visibility of the stylus tip, allowing for precise placement even in dimly lit environments.
